Packing Essentials for the Solo Male Traveler

Since you’re going to be spending a lot of time with yourself on a solo trip, you’ll need to keep yourself entertained. Your destination is definitely going to help with that (and if it isn’t, why’re you going?).

Eventually, though, you’ll have to come back to your hotel. You’ll get a chance to unwind and get ready for the next day’s activities. Without the right luggage, you may come to dread the end to your day’s plans. To make sure your trip goes smoothly, from fun to relaxation, here are some things you need to pack.

Travel Paperwork, Cash, and Insurance

These are essential to traveling in the same way birth control is essential to a happy, childless life. You’re not going to have any fun if you don’t bring these along.

Generally, it’s safer to keep your paperwork on your person and upload it to a cloud server. That way, in case you lose the physical copies, you have digital proof of their existence and can replace them. Your paperwork includes your passport, visa, hotel booking, and flight information.

Cash and insurance are generally important, but they can help you get out of any unexpected problem. A host of things could go wrong on a trip. Your flight could get delayed due to bad weather. Your stomach might not mesh well with the exotic foods you’re trying. You might get mugged. Since you’re traveling solo, you probably can’t count on anyone to help you out. Luckily, you can count on insurance and some spare cash to help you out. Plus, money tends to have a way with women.

Technology

Traveling is more than just the experience. You’ll be creating new memories, meeting new people, and trying new things. Recording all of those new adventures can help keep those memories alive after many years. You should pack a good camera, or at least a phone with a good camera. Though, with the variety of uses and affordability of Go-Pros, they may be better at conveniently recording your memories.

Your smartphone is probably going to help you through many situations. If you’re bored at your hotel some night and can’t sleep, Netflix or social media can cure the boredom. The phone also doubles as an e-reader, and you can use it for online banking and to access your travel paperwork. Since it’s so important, be sure to carry a global charging adapter and a charged power bank.

Grooming Equipment

If you’re traveling alone, you may want to take in the sights and experience things on your own. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t party with other people. Who knows, if you have an exotic taste in women, you may also leave that party with a woman (or two, if you’re lucky).

If you want all of this to happen, the last thing you want to do is parade your unkempt visage around the place. Traveling isn’t an excuse to let yourself go, within reason. Take your razors, toothpaste and brush, deodorant, and whatever else you use to make yourself presentable. Take a first-aid kit too, just in case you hurt yourself somehow.

With this out of the way, it’s time to figure out where to go. Check out Julian Jones Travel for descriptions and anecdotes about all the places I’ve visited. My solo male travel blog can help you figure out the top destinations for solo travelers like yourself!
